Network Engineer - 6 Month FTC
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise-scale network solutions across data centre, cloud, and hybrid environments. This role will focus heavily on modern networking technologies, container networking, automation, and infrastructure as code within highly available and secure platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Network Architecture & Engineering
- Design, implement, and support enterprise network solutions across data centre, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Ensure adherence to established network design standards and operational best practices.
- Lead the deployment and optimisation of container-based networking infrastructures.
- Architect and support network configurations within OpenShift and Kubernetes environments, including routing, ingress/egress, load balancing, and SDN components.
Infrastructure Automation & IaC
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab.
- Drive network automation initiatives to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for network configuration management and validation.
Operations & Support
- Troubleshoot complex Layer 2–7 networking issues across physical, virtual, and containerised environments.
- Monitor and optimise network performance, capacity, resilience, and security.
- Maintain technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and operational runbooks.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with platform, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver end-to-end technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to junior engineers and wider teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and modernisation projects.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of hands-on network engineering experience within large-scale or complex enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching technologies including:
- BGP
- OSPF
- EVPN/VXLAN
- MPLS
- Experience with firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and WAN technologies.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies.
- Experience with container networking technologies and Kubernetes/OpenShift networking at scale.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code and automation experience using:
- Terraform
- Ansible
- GitLab
- Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Experience using Atlassian tooling including Jira and Confluence.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities across complex multi-layered environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud networking across Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Familiarity with SDN and NFV technologies.
- Scripting experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong Linux or Unix administration knowledge.
