Senior Policy Advisor - Indirect Tax

What you’ll be doing

This is a varied, outward-facing role where you’ll:

• Lead on indirect tax policy (VAT / IPT) and its impact on a major industry sector
• Develop and present policy positions and consultation responses to government and regulators
• Engage directly with HM Treasury, HMRC and key stakeholders to influence outcomes
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across industry and government
• Represent the organisation at high-level forums, committees and industry groups
• Translate complex tax issues into clear, persuasive messaging for non-specialists
• Contribute to wider regulatory and policy discussions beyond tax

What we’re looking for

• Strong grounding in UK tax, ideally indirect tax (VAT/IPT)
• A qualified tax or accounting professional (or equivalent experience)
• Proven ability to translate technical tax into practical, strategic insight
• Confidence engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders
• Strong communication skills – written and verbal
• A proactive, curious mindset with the ability to operate across a broad policy agenda

Experience in financial services or policy work is helpful, but not essential.
