Group Tax Manager
An opportunity to take ownership of the end-to-end tax function for a large, complex UK business with revenues exceeding £1bn. Operating as a standalone specialist, you'll have the autonomy to shape the role, build key stakeholder relationships, and make a real impact across corp tax, VAT and stat reporting. You'll either be an experienced in-house tax professional looking for greater ownership/autonomy, or a tax specialist from practice ready to make your move into industry.
What you'll do:
-
Take full ownership of the UK corporate tax compliance cycle, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
-
Lead the end-to-end VAT compliance process, including returns, payments and advisory support across the business.
-
Prepare statutory tax disclosures and oversee all associated reporting requirements.
-
Act as the primary contact for HMRC, managing enquiries and maintaining a positive working relationship.
-
Manage relationships with external tax advisers and coordinate specialist support where required.
-
Lead the Senior Accounting Officer reporting process and ensure ongoing compliance.
-
Provide tax guidance to Finance, Payroll and the wider business on a range of tax matters, including PAYE, customs and indirect tax.
-
Support business acquisitions, disposals and internal restructures from a tax perspective.
-
Monitor changes in UK tax legislation, identifying risks and opportunities for the business.
-
Partner closely with the Financial Accounts team to ensure robust tax reporting and compliance.
What you'll bring:
-
Experience managing end-to-end corporate tax and VAT compliance within a large, complex organisation, or the ambition and capability to step into that responsibility.
-
A recognised tax or accounting qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
-
Strong technical knowledge across UK corporate tax, VAT and statutory tax reporting.
-
Experience working with HMRC and external advisers.
-
A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to manage your own workload in a standalone role.
-
Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
-
Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence across Finance and the wider business.
-
We would also welcome applications from tax professionals looking to make their first move from practice into industry, or experienced Assistant Managers ready to step into a broader, more autonomous position.
Package
-
Salary: £80,000–£90,000
-
Hybrid working: 3 days per week in the office
-
