We are partnering with a leading global investment bank on a high-profile Director-level Commodity Market Risk appointment in London.

This is a senior, Front Office-facing second-line role supporting the continued expansion of a global Energy trading business.

You will act as the independent senior risk partner to trading desks and senior stakeholders, providing robust challenge whilst enabling appropriate commercial growth within a well-defined risk appetite.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior Market Risk coverage for Energy trading activity, working closely with desk heads, traders and senior risk leadership.

• Set, challenge and monitor risk appetite, limits, exposures, concentrations and emerging risks.

• Lead the review and approval of significant new trades, products and business initiatives.

• Develop and enhance risk infrastructure, market-risk metrics, methodologies, stress testing, valuation processes and reporting.

• Partner with Risk Methodology, Valuation Risk, Market Risk Analysis and Control, and other specialist teams.

About you

You will be an established Market Risk professional at Director level, or a particularly strong senior VP ready to step up. You will bring:

• Deep Energy or Commodities Market Risk experience, ideally with direct oil and gas derivatives exposure.

• A track record in a regulated investment-bank or comparable Energy trading environment.

• Strong Front Office credibility and the confidence to constructively challenge senior trading stakeholders.

• Evidence of building, improving or remediating risk infrastructure, methodologies, models or control frameworks.

• Strong technical understanding of market-risk and pricing models; Python, SQL or quantitative/statistical skills are advantageous.

• Excellent judgement, communication skills and the ability to balance commercial objectives with independent risk oversight.
