Senior Conflicts Analyst

Save job

A leading international law firm is seeking a Senior Conflicts Analyst to join their Onboarding Conflicts team, based in Manchester, Leeds, or Glasgow.

This is an exceptional opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in ensuring the firm’s compliance with regulatory obligations and supporting its global operations. As part of a collaborative and supportive environment, you will be empowered to manage complex and high-risk conflict checks, contribute to risk mitigation strategies, and provide expert guidance across the business.

The firm is renowned for its commitment to professional growth, offering continuous learning opportunities and clear pathways for internal progression. You will benefit from working within a diverse team that values inclusivity, knowledge sharing, and personal development, all while making a tangible impact on the firm’s success.

What you'll do:

  • Conduct comprehensive end-to-end conflict checks on complex and high-risk matters to ensure full compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority Code of Conduct 2019, Market Abuse Regulation (MAR), and internal policies.
  • Analyse confidential records and supporting documentation thoroughly to assess relevance, materiality, and potential risks associated with new client matters.
  • Escalate particularly sensitive or intricate conflict issues to senior colleagues or the Head of Conflicts as appropriate, collaborating effectively to resolve them in line with established procedures.
  • Act as a key point of escalation for technical queries from junior analysts and other team members, providing expert advice and practical support when needed.
  • Assist Conflicts Team Leaders by handling complex queries, managing workflow priorities, and undertaking ad hoc tasks that contribute to the smooth running of the department.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives by conducting audits of conflict search results, delivering detailed feedback, and raising any concerns with senior leadership.
  • Process incoming queries efficiently through the team's inbox, including creating and maintaining Information Barriers as well as addressing general client matter inception requests.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the firm—including Compliance, Onboarding, and other business services teams—to support effective risk management practices.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in processes by sharing insights gained from day-to-day activities and participating in team discussions focused on best practice.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards to ensure all work meets current legal requirements.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a conflicts role within a law firm environment, particularly involving conflict checking and client onboarding for complex or high-risk matters.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct 2019, Market Abuse Regulation (MAR), and internal policies related to conflicts management and client matter inception.
  • Exceptional research and analytical abilities that enable you to review documentation thoroughly, identify key issues quickly, and make informed decisions using sound judgement.
  • Proven capacity to assess risk appropriately—knowing when escalation is necessary—and manage competing deadlines without compromising accuracy or attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills that allow you to build rapport across different teams within the firm while providing clear guidance on technical matters.
  • Experience supporting junior colleagues by offering practical advice on technical queries related to conflicts analysis or onboarding processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills developed through regular interaction with various business services teams in a legal setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with Intapp or similar conflicts management systems would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to conduct quality assurance audits effectively—providing constructive feedback aimed at improving overall team performance.
