Risk Analyst
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk Analyst to join a highly respected international law firm based in London. This role offers you the chance to play a pivotal part in supporting the organisation’s risk and compliance framework, working closely with colleagues across various departments to provide practical guidance and ensure regulatory standards are met.
What you'll do:
As a Risk Analyst, you will immerse yourself in a varied role that places you at the centre of the organisation’s efforts to manage regulatory obligations and professional risks. Your day-to-day activities will involve responding to queries from across the business, providing expert advice on compliance issues ranging from confidentiality to anti-bribery measures. You will collaborate closely with colleagues in different departments—reviewing contracts, supporting data protection initiatives, delivering training sessions, and contributing to audits or internal investigations. By acting as a trusted advisor on regulatory matters and assisting with policy updates in response to legal developments, you will help maintain robust systems that protect both clients and the firm. Your ability to communicate complex information clearly will be essential as you support teams navigating new business reviews or resolving conflicts issues. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively within a supportive environment while developing their expertise in risk management.
- Respond promptly and thoughtfully to queries from the Risk team inbox, providing clear guidance to colleagues throughout the firm on a variety of risk-related topics.
- Offer practical advice on the application of regulatory codes such as the SRA Code of Conduct, ensuring all staff understand their responsibilities.
- Support colleagues with compliance matters including confidentiality, outside interests, share dealing, anti-bribery, and corruption by offering well-informed recommendations.
- Assist in preparing documentation for auditor requests, supplier agreements, secondment arrangements, and other contractual matters as required by the business.
- Advise on engagement letters and terms of business, focusing on key provisions such as conflicts of interest, confidentiality clauses, and limitation of liability.
- Review client terms in collaboration with Contract Lawyers when necessary, ensuring all agreements align with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver engaging training sessions on risk and compliance topics to promote understanding of firm policies among staff at all levels.
- Contribute actively to risk assessments, audits, internal investigations, and data protection matters including managing data breaches or subject access requests.
- Review client file requests in accordance with established processes while maintaining high standards of accuracy and discretion.
- Act as a reliable point of contact for regulatory queries from teams such as Conflicts, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Matter Administration.
What you bring:
To excel as a Risk Analyst in this setting, your proven experience within legal or professional services environments will be invaluable. Your familiarity with compliance frameworks—particularly those governed by regulatory bodies—will allow you to navigate complex scenarios with ease. You bring not only technical knowledge but also interpersonal sensitivity; your ability to build rapport ensures effective collaboration across teams. A structured approach underpins your work style: you thrive when managing competing priorities without compromising quality or accuracy. Your communication skills empower you to explain intricate concepts simply so others can act confidently on your advice. Whether supporting data protection projects or reviewing contractual documents alongside experienced lawyers, your commitment to upholding high standards makes you an asset to any team focused on responsible risk management.
- Demonstrated experience working within a legal or professional services environment where attention to detail is paramount.
- Proven background in compliance or professional practice regulation with an understanding of relevant industry standards.
- Familiarity with the SRA Code of Conduct and its practical application within a business context.
- Strong research abilities combined with analytical skills that enable you to interpret complex regulations effectively.
- A discreet approach when handling sensitive information coupled with sound judgement in challenging situations.
- Excellent communication skills that allow you to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation.
- Well-developed organisational abilities enabling you to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Experience delivering training sessions or supporting data protection initiatives would be advantageous but not essential for success in this role.
- Previous involvement in contract review work is desirable but not mandatory; willingness to learn is highly valued.
