Senior Project Manager - Payments & Regulatory Change

A leading global investment bank is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major payments programme across its EMEA operations. This is a high-profile role focused on driving a complex regulatory and business change initiative, ensuring successful delivery across multiple jurisdictions.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across Technology, Operations, Compliance, Legal and Business teams, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end programme lifecycle, from requirements gathering through to implementation and operational readiness. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in a business-critical transformation programme while working within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a strategic payments programme across EMEA, ensuring milestones, timelines and business objectives are achieved.
  • Translate complex business and regulatory requirements into clear project plans, workstreams and deliverables.
  • Establish and manage programme governance, including steering committees, working groups, status reporting and stakeholder communications.
  • Maintain programme plans, RAID logs, budgets and resource allocations, ensuring risks and issues are proactively managed.
  • Partner with Technology teams to oversee solution delivery, testing, implementation and release activities.
  • Work closely with Operations, Compliance and Business stakeholders to assess impacts and ensure successful adoption of new processes and controls.
  • Coordinate delivery activities across multiple jurisdictions and business functions.
  • Produce high-quality management information and progress reporting for senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation, controls and audit trails are maintained throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Drive collaboration across cross-functional teams to achieve successful programme outcomes.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale payments, regulatory change or business transformation programmes within banking.
  • Strong payments experience within banking, with exposure to regulatory and industry initiatives such as PSR, SEPA, PSD2, PSD3 or related payments frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex projects across multiple countries and stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent programme management skills, including planning, governance, risk management, budgeting and reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience working within matrix environments and coordinating delivery across multiple functions.
  • Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on programme execution.
  • Programme or project management qualifications such as MSP, PRINCE2, Agile or SAFe are advantageous.
