Procurement Manager
A leading manufacturer in the chemical manufacturing sector is seeking a Procurement Manager to take full ownership of their UK procurement function. This role offers you the opportunity to shape procurement strategy, influence sourcing decisions, and deliver measurable business impact within a supportive international network. You will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, working closely with colleagues across multiple functions and sites, including an established European manufacturing facility.
Please note this is an on-site role.
What You'll Do:
As Procurement Manager, you will be entrusted with end-to-end responsibility for the procurement function at a thriving UK manufacturing site. Your day-to-day activities will involve:
- Develop and implement robust procurement strategies for chemical raw materials and packaging.
- Lead negotiations for pricing, contracts, payment terms and long-term supply agreements.
- Identify opportunities for supplier rationalisation, category management and strategic sourcing to optimise spend across all product categories.
- Monitor market developments, raw material indices and supply chain trends to anticipate risks and proactively address potential challenges.
- Create sourcing strategies that improve business resilience through dual sourcing arrangements and contingency planning initiatives.
- Partner with international colleagues on joint sourcing initiatives, group purchasing agreements and harmonisation of suppliers to maximise commercial benefits.
What You Bring:
The ideal candidate for the Procurement Manager position brings substantial experience including:
- Proven experience in procurement within a manufacturing environment where you have managed complex supply chains involving chemical raw materials or industrial commodities.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating commercial agreements.
- Strong understanding of supplier relationship management principles.
- Outstanding communication abilities allowing you to engage effectively with stakeholders across Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Regulatory and Finance functions as well as international colleagues.
- Resilience in adapting to changing priorities within a busy manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to detail in all aspects of procurement operations.
