CI & TPM Manager
An interesting and varied role has opened up with an established manufacturing business based near Blackburn, working closely with the SLT to drive Continuous Improvement and TPM initiatives across the facility.
A leading manufacturing organisation in Blackburn is seeking a CI & TPM Manager to champion business excellence across their Blackburn site, joining their management team and reporting directly to the Site Director. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact at an already high-performing site by nurturing a culture of continuous improvement, supporting operational teams, and driving results through structured project work. What you'll do:
As the CI & TPM Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of operational excellence at the Blackburn site. Your daily activities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost reduction, waste minimisation, productivity enhancement, and efficiency gains. You will be responsible for developing robust improvement structures that empower teams through training, coaching, and mentoring. By leveraging your expertise in lean methodologies and TPM tools, you will guide project execution from inception to completion while ensuring all relevant stakeholders are kept up-to-date on progress. Your ability to interpret complex data outputs accurately will enable you to prioritise initiatives that deliver tangible benefits. Success in this role requires you to foster strong relationships across departments, motivate teams constructively, and represent the site within broader business excellence networks.
- Deliver measurable results by implementing structured improvement processes aligned with strategic business objectives.
- Establish and nurture a CI structure and culture within the business through data capture, analysis, and regular review of systems at various intervals.
- Assist in resource allocation for continuous improvement initiatives as well as day-to-day operations to ensure optimal efficiency.
- Provide formal training and on-the-job coaching to functional teams, enhancing their improvement skills and fostering a collaborative mindset.
- Lead workshops and coaching sessions to promote an inclusive improvement culture throughout the organisation.
- Monitor the status of projects, assisting with completion within agreed timescales and budgeted delivery while keeping key stakeholders informed.
- Drive ongoing improvements in critical quality metrics by influencing teams using advanced change leadership techniques.
- Utilise excellent project management skills to implement identified improvements involving site personnel as appropriate.
- Represent the site within the wider business excellence community, sharing best practices and completing accurate group reporting on time.
What you bring:
To excel as CI & TPM Manager, you’ll bring proven experience from an established manufacturing background where you have successfully led change initiatives. Your application should demonstrate a deep understanding of production processes, as well as proficiency with Lean tools, Six Sigma methodologies, TPM techniques, and high IT competency. Equally important are your interpersonal strengths and your capacity for coaching teams through change; motivating colleagues; communicating complex ideas clearly; delegating tasks effectively; empowering others; negotiating constructively; teaching TPM concepts; managing time efficiently; and adapting seamlessly to evolving priorities.
- Excellent understanding of production and operational processes.
- Proven track record in change management with effective team building capabilities.
- Expertise in Lean methodologies, Six Sigma principles, TPM tools and techniques applied to manufacturing processes.
- Exceptional presentation skills coupled with strong project management abilities that facilitate successful implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills including coaching, mentoring, communication (written/oral), delegation, empowerment, motivation, influence and negotiation.
- Ability to teach main TPM concepts clearly while demonstrating excellent time management under often changing circumstances.
