AML Compliance analyst
A leading international law firm is seeking an Anti-Money Laundering Analyst to join its expanding centralised AML team in London. This is a unique opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the firm from financial crime risks while supporting the seamless onboarding of clients across a global platform.
Job responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews and assessments of client and matter risk, including detailed analysis of source of funds and source of wealth information to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Undertake both standard and enhanced client due diligence processes by requesting, obtaining, and verifying appropriate documentation in line with internal policies and anti-money laundering regulations.
- Support the third-party payment process by ensuring all compliance requirements are met before payment requests are submitted for approval, maintaining robust controls throughout.
- Review screening hits related to politically exposed persons (PEPs), sanctions lists, watchlists, and adverse media reports; escalate potential matches in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide clear guidance and support to fee earners regarding client onboarding queries and anti-money laundering requirements, fostering strong interdepartmental relationships.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the firm's systems, ensuring data integrity for audits, file reviews, and regulatory inspections.
- Assist with internal audits, file reviews, and regulatory inspections by preparing relevant documentation and responding promptly to information requests.
Person requirements:
- At least 12 months’ experience working in an anti-money laundering or financial crime compliance role within a law firm environment is essential for this position.
- A solid understanding of UK anti-money laundering regulations—including Money Laundering Regulations 2017—and familiarity with LSAG guidance is required.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to absorb large volumes of information quickly, analyse complex data sets, and consolidate findings effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong organisational abilities ensures accuracy in record-keeping and timely completion of tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills enable you to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.
