A top-tier International law firm are seeking a Conflicts advisor to come onboard their new business intake team in Leeds. An exciting opportunity for an experienced professional.

Job description:

  • Conduct thorough analysis of conflict reports, drafting detailed written assessments and facilitating the resolution or avoidance of conflicts of interest based on specific matter requirements.
  • Draft conflict waivers, engagement letters, and other related documents or memoranda with clarity and precision to ensure all parties are fully informed.
  • Perform comprehensive electronic research on legal issues, corporate affiliations, SEC filings, public records, sanctions lists, and more using both internal databases and external resources.
  • Utilise internal systems to collect relevant information efficiently while constructing Ethical Walls as required to maintain confidentiality and compliance.
  • Analyse potential conflicts of interest for lateral hires, ensuring seamless integration into the firm’s operations without compromising ethical standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Business Intake on matters related to new business evaluation and conflicts of interest resolution.
  • Support Conflict Specialists by supplementing conflict searches during peak periods or as needed for complex cases.
  • Assist in evaluating new technologies for the Business Intake Group, contributing insights that enhance efficiency and accuracy within the department.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a Law Degree or completion of a Law Conversion course is essential for understanding complex legal frameworks underpinning this role.
  • Experience within a business intake compliance function is preferred; however, qualified lawyers without direct experience are also encouraged to apply due to transferable skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication abilities are required for drafting documents and interacting professionally with clients as well as colleagues at all levels.
