Inquiries Associate Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 Location: Birmingham, Cardiff or Manchester (home hub) but on-site 4-5 days a week onsite at client premises
A leading global law firm is seeking an Inquiries Associate to join their team, with the option to be based in Birmingham, Cardiff or Manchester. This role offers you the chance to work on a high-profile public inquiry, supporting complex and sensitive projects for clients in the public sector.

N.B. The successful candidate will be to work onsite at client premises in central London four-five days per week.
What you'll do:
- Act as solicitor to statutory and non-statutory inquiries, providing expert legal guidance throughout all stages of the process.
- Represent core participants in both public and non-statutory inquiries, ensuring their interests are protected with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Conduct internal investigations and independent reviews for clients requiring impartial analysis of their practices or operations.
- Liaise with a diverse range of witnesses, conducting interviews and taking detailed statements to support inquiry objectives.
- Perform evidential review and analysis using advanced document management platforms, handling significant volumes of material efficiently.
- Support large-scale disclosure projects by managing document review exercises with meticulous attention to detail.
- Carry out careful redaction of sensitive and confidential information to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
- Utilise IT systems for monitoring, analysing, reporting, and capturing evidence across multiple cases.
- Attend hearings on behalf of clients, assisting with media handling and ensuring accurate representation at every stage.
- Advise on inquiry processes including document management, evidence collection, fair process considerations, privilege issues, freedom of information requests, judicial review procedures, and reputation management.
What you bring:
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 1-3 years’ post-qualification experience is essential for this role.
- Experience working on public inquiries either as solicitor to an inquiry or supporting core participants is highly valued.
- Background gained in private practice, government departments, regulatory bodies or public sector environments enhances your suitability.
- Previous involvement in large-scale disclosure or document review exercises demonstrates your dependability.
- Superb analytical skills enable you to handle complex legal matters with care and precision.
- Excellent judgment coupled with acute attention to detail ensures sensitive information is managed responsibly.
- Commercial awareness combined with financial acumen supports effective client service delivery.
- Ability to contribute collaboratively within teams comprising colleagues, clients and Counsel fosters positive outcomes.
- Exceptional time management skills allow you to deliver high-quality work within agreed timescales even under pressure.
