What you'll do:
- Manage a dedicated caseload of contentious probate matters, ensuring each case is handled with care, attention to detail, and empathy for clients’ circumstances.
- Assist in resolving disputes relating to land, including adverse possession claims, boundary issues, right of way disputes, nuisance claims, and enforceability of restrictive covenants.
- Support landlord and tenant dispute resolution processes by preparing documentation, liaising with clients, and attending hearings where required.
- Contribute to the enforcement of charging orders and other formal or informal charges over land by conducting research and drafting relevant legal documents.
- Communicate effectively with clients throughout the process, providing clear updates and maintaining high standards of client service at all times.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the Dispute Resolution Team to share knowledge, discuss complex cases, and ensure best practice is followed.
- Engage in business development activities by building relationships with existing clients and identifying new opportunities for the firm’s services.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions and professional development initiatives offered by the firm to enhance your legal expertise.
- Maintain accurate records of all casework in line with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Demonstrate sensitivity when dealing with emotionally charged situations involving wills, estates, or family disputes.
What you bring:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for building trust with clients and presenting information clearly in both correspondence and court settings.
- A strong client service ethic demonstrated through previous experience or training in delivering empathetic support during sensitive legal matters.
- A keen interest in contentious probate law combined with foundational knowledge gained during your training contract or recent qualification as a solicitor.
