What you'll do: As a Senior Policy Lawyer – Public Policy, you will play a pivotal role in leading specialist teams responsible for developing robust enforcement strategies. Your day-to-day activities will involve providing expert legal advice on complex investigations, drafting guidance documents for evolving policy areas, engaging with senior professionals across government agencies, and delivering training to internal stakeholders. You will instruct external counsel when necessary to ensure thorough handling of high-risk cases. Additionally, you will advise on compliance best practices concerning sensitive data protection while nurturing relationships with key partners inside and outside the organisation. Line management duties may include mentoring junior colleagues to foster their growth within case teams. Success in this role requires you to be proactive in shaping enforcement policies that uphold public interest while maintaining collaborative relationships across diverse teams. * Lead a team of specialist policy lawyers within the Enforcement Division, guiding them through complex investigations and litigation matters. * Develop and implement strategic policies for enforcement activities related to accountants, actuaries, and auditors. * Provide high-quality legal advice and analysis on intricate legal and policy issues affecting the division’s operations. * Draft comprehensive guidance on cross-cutting policy matters in both established and emerging areas of law. * Engage proactively with internal colleagues as well as external partners including government departments and other regulatory agencies on legal and policy matters. * Prepare and deliver training sessions and presentations to internal stakeholders to enhance understanding of enforcement policies. * Instruct specialist counsel on highly complex or high-risk enforcement legal issues requiring expert input. * Advise on best practices for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies regarding personal, confidential, or sensitive data protection. * Coordinate relationships between the Enforcement Division and key stakeholders within the organisation as well as other regulators and enforcement bodies. * Support line management responsibilities by coaching junior lawyers or legal assistants within case teams.
