Employment Counsel - 12m FTC - £135-140k

Save job

International services business with operations across the globe are looking to bring in a sole Employment Counsel for their EMEA region, to cover a 12 month period of maternity leave. This will be a hybrid role – ideally three days per week will be spent at the organisation’s offices in Central London but the business is open to a discussion if someone needs more flexibility than that. You must be available to start by mid-May at the very latest.

The postholder will act as the key employment law advisor across the company’s EMEA operations. You will be in constant contact with key stakeholders across the business such as the People/HR team, leaders in a range of territories, and the board.

Specific day-to-day involvement includes:

  • Advising on employment contracts, HR policies, non-competes, temporary workforce issues, and redundancies.
  • Having an input into executive hires (and exits)
  • Managing relationships with external counsel in the UK and overseas
  • Advising on litigious matters relating to investigations, disciplinary processes and performance improvement plans (although very unlikely you would be required to ever appear in court)
  • Transactional and TUPE support

This remit would be suited to someone with at least 8 years’ PQE although applications from all levels will be considered on merit. Ideally you will have previous in-house experience, as well as knowledge/exposure to employment law across mainland Europe. As the sole employment lawyer, you must be able to work under pressure and be comfortable with being constantly approached for advice in a wide range of employment law issues.

Robert Walters Operations Limited is an employment business and employment agency and welcomes applications from all candidates
