HR Operations Assistant

Save job

Are you an organised and process-driven HR professional looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a highly motivated HR Operations Assistant to join a dynamic and fast-paced organisation within a London based professional services environment. This role offers excellent exposure to HR processes and operations, with strong potential for career development.

As an HR Operations Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the operational and administrative aspects of the employee lifecycle. From onboarding to offboarding, you’ll ensure that processes run smoothly, accurately, and efficiently. Acting as a key point of contact for employees and managers, you’ll provide guidance on policies and procedures while maintaining oversight of day-to-day HR activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys working with data, and has a passion for delivering high-quality HR support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage administrative tasks across the employee lifecycle, including contracts, probation reviews, training administration, and references.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for routine HR queries, providing accurate guidance and escalating complex matters when necessary.
  • Maintain and update the HRIS system (e.g., BambooHR), ensuring all employee records are accurate, secure, and compliant with data protection regulations.
  • Produce regular and ad hoc HR reports to support decision-making and highlight trends or risks.
  • Administer UK employee benefits and support international benefits coordination alongside senior HR colleagues.
  • Handle visa-related administration, tracking right-to-work documentation and liaising with external advisers where required.
  • Support compliance activities such as employment status reviews (e.g., IR35) and regulatory obligations (e.g., SMCR requirements).
  • Assist with internal HR initiatives, events planning, and internship programme coordination.
  • Monitor the HR inbox, responding promptly to queries while triaging issues effectively.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the employee experience.

About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in an operational or administrative HR role within a similar industry or professional services environment. You’ll be highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced setting.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an HR administration or HR operations assistant role.
  • CIPD Level 3 or working towards it (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with strong analytical skills; confident use of Excel functions such as pivot tables and lookups is essential.
  • Experience using BambooHR or similar HRIS systems is desirable.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with high standards of accuracy in record-keeping and written communication.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Professional discretion when handling sensitive information.

Personal Attributes:

  • Proactive problem-solver who takes ownership of tasks while knowing when to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Clear communicator who can explain processes confidently and practically.
  • Able to be onsite in London offices three days per week

This role offers fantastic exposure to all areas of HR operations within a supportive team environment. You’ll gain valuable experience across compliance activities, benefits administration, reporting, and more, providing a solid foundation for future career growth within HR.

If you’re ready to bring your organisational expertise and process-driven mindset to a rewarding role with great development potential, we’d love to hear from you!
