A leading global financial institution is seeking an experienced Commodities & Energy Valuation Risk professional to join a growing specialist valuation function in London.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the expansion of a developing commodities and energy trading platform. Working within an independent risk management team, you will provide oversight, governance and challenge across valuation methodologies, market data, pricing models and valuation controls whilst partnering closely with front office, finance, model risk and technology stakeholders.

The position offers significant exposure to senior decision-makers and the opportunity to influence valuation frameworks, governance standards and new business initiatives in a high-profile trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide independent oversight and challenge of commodity and energy valuations.
• Review valuation methodologies, pricing assumptions and market data sources.
• Support and oversee independent price verification activities.
• Assess valuation uncertainty and contribute to reserve and adjustment methodologies.
• Review valuation control processes across a range of energy and commodity products.
• Partner with trading, finance, model risk and technology teams on valuation-related matters.
• Contribute to governance forums, regulatory initiatives and internal control enhancements.
• Support the onboarding of new products and business activities from a valuation risk perspective.
• Drive continuous improvement across valuation frameworks, controls and reporting.

Candidate Profile

We are interested in speaking with candidates who possess:

• Strong experience within Commodities Valuation Control, Valuation Risk, Independent Valuation, Product Control or a related valuation-focused discipline.
• Detailed knowledge of commodity markets and valuation methodologies.
• Experience challenging valuation assumptions, market data and pricing approaches.
• Understanding of independent price verification processes and valuation governance.
• Exposure to fair value measurements, valuation uncertainty or reserve methodologies.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior business leaders.
• A commercial understanding of energy and commodities markets.

Experience covering areas such as oil, gas, power, emissions, metals or other commodity products would be advantageous.
