What you'll do:
- Take full responsibility for managing end-to-end back office processes including confirmations, settlements, reconciliations, and reporting for gas and power products to ensure seamless daily operations.
- Ensure all operational outputs are delivered accurately, completely, and on time by maintaining rigorous standards across every aspect of assigned tasks.
- Serve as a key control point by upholding process integrity and consistency while proactively identifying any discrepancies or risks within workflows.
- Independently manage your workload by prioritising tasks effectively to maintain continuity even during periods of high activity or change.
- Act as a primary contact for front office, risk management, and accounting teams by facilitating smooth communication and resolving operational queries promptly.
- Provide clear updates on progress, issues, and risk areas to stakeholders while escalating matters appropriately when necessary.
- Support knowledge sharing within the team by offering guidance and fostering an environment of mutual learning and cooperation.
- Identify operational risks, control gaps, and inefficiencies; take proactive steps to analyse root causes and implement corrective actions that strengthen internal controls.
- Actively participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) activities related to new system implementations by planning tests, executing scenarios, validating results, and identifying potential impacts on operations.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements by proposing enhancements that increase efficiency, scalability, and compliance with regulatory requirements such as REMIT.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated experience of at least five years in back office operations within the oil or gas sector with particular focus on gas and power settlements.
- Proven ability to handle complex operational issues arising from system changes or process transitions while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
- Experience coordinating effectively across front office functions as well as support teams such as risk management and accounting.
- Comprehensive understanding of settlement processes along with strong data referential skills relevant to energy trading environments.
- Advanced analytical abilities paired with excellent problem-solving skills that enable you to identify root causes quickly and implement effective solutions.
- Outstanding communication skills that facilitate smooth stakeholder coordination across diverse teams both internally and externally.
- Meticulous attention to detail combined with a reliable approach to delivering high-quality outputs under tight deadlines or shifting priorities.
- Solid time management capabilities that allow you to independently organise workloads while adapting flexibly to changing demands.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at a working level alongside familiarity with other Microsoft Office tools essential for daily reporting tasks.
