What you'll do:
As a Financial Reporting Associate Manager based in London, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of core finance functions while also playing a key part in strategic projects. Your day-to-day activities will involve close supervision of transaction processing teams, approval of critical month-end activities, preparation of detailed management accounts, and direct involvement in regulatory submissions. You will regularly interact with both internal colleagues, ranging from accountants to IT specialists, and external partners such as auditors or regulators. In addition to routine responsibilities, you will contribute significantly to upcoming system changes by providing essential project support during the transition to new accounting software. Your ability to communicate clearly across departments will help drive process improvements while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance throughout all financial operations.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processing teams to ensure accurate and timely completion of financial transactions.
- Approve and oversee month-end journals and processes to maintain robust financial controls and integrity of records.
- Assist with bi-weekly finance reporting, forecasts, monthly and quarterly management accounts, KPI reporting, and ad hoc COO reports.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements such as annual ICARA documentation and quarterly FCA returns by preparing accurate submissions.
- Contribute to the preparation of Board Meeting agendas and schedules while assisting with insurance renewals and related queries.
- Provide assistance with corporate updates, tax compliance matters, and maintenance of accounting systems, books, and records.
- Play an active role in project work aligned with team objectives, particularly supporting the planned migration from Sage X3 to Sage Intacct in 2027.
- Offer cover for other team members as needed by managing cash forecasts, expense approvals, or other finance-related tasks.
- Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders including business management, cost centre managers, executive assistants, IT infrastructure teams, legal departments, and project teams.
- Engage with external parties such as auditors for reconciliations and audit schedules, FCA for regulatory submissions, and insurers for policy renewals.
What you bring:
- Degree qualified with at least a 2:1 or international equivalent in a relevant discipline demonstrating strong academic achievement.
- Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant with proven knowledge of UK bookkeeping, accounting principles, tax practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
- Previous experience working within and Asset Management firm
- Significant experience in a comparable finance role where you have managed or supervised transaction processing teams within a business services environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel enabling you to analyse complex data sets efficiently for reporting purposes.
- Exposure to system development or project management initiatives within finance functions showing adaptability to change.
- Practical experience using Sage X3 or Sage Intacct is highly desirable; technical experience implementing Intacct would be especially valuable for upcoming projects.
- Familiarity with Concur expense management systems at both user and administrator levels is advantageous for supporting travel expenses processes.
- Previous supervisory or management experience within investment management industry finance teams would be beneficial but not essential.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint for preparing presentations or board materials adds value when communicating results or recommendations.
- Experience dealing with US or UK corporation taxation issues or having worked within management consultancy environments would further strengthen your application.
