A leading financial institution is seeking a Group Financial Reporting and Technical Accountant to join their Finance Team in London, offering a competitive salary of £70,000 - £80,000. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of External Reporting and Accounting Policy as well as the Senior Technical Accounting Manager, contributing to the group’s external reporting processes, technical accounting advice, and implementation of regulatory changes.

What you'll do:

As a Group Financial Reporting and Technical Accountant based in London, you will immerse yourself in a variety of responsibilities that span preparation of financial statements, audit support, Finrep reporting management, stakeholder engagement, compliance assurance, and technical advisory. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating closely with colleagues across departments to ensure accurate external reporting while adhering to evolving regulatory requirements. You will be instrumental in facilitating effective communication between internal teams and external advisors or auditors. Success in this role hinges on your ability to foster teamwork, build trust-based relationships, respond sensitively to audit requests, manage complex reporting processes efficiently, and uphold rigorous governance standards. The position offers ample opportunity for professional development through exposure to diverse accounting challenges within a supportive team environment.

  • Prepare the group financial statements at year end and half year using Workiva, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant standards.
  • Provide comprehensive support throughout the audit process by assisting in managing audit relationships, responding to audit requests, and addressing challenges effectively.
  • Take ownership of the quarterly Finrep reporting process by monitoring changes in PRA requirements, managing group timetables, consolidating divisional returns, and submitting reports to the PRA.
  • Encourage teamwork by managing interdepartmental partnerships and facilitating cross-functional collaboration across divisions.
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure smooth communication and successful outcomes.
  • Facilitate cross-functional working relationships that promote knowledge sharing and communal problem-solving within the Finance Team.
  • Ensure all Governance and Compliance requirements are met by carrying out reporting and reviewing activities required by regulatory bodies to the highest standards.
  • Support the implementation of accounting and regulatory changes by providing technical accounting advice to various teams within the organisation.
  • Participate actively in communication with auditors by replying to audit requests promptly and maintaining dependable relationships.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance Team by sharing insights gained from external reporting processes.

What you bring:

Your proven track record as a Group Financial Reporting and Technical Accountant will be evident through your ACA or equivalent qualification combined with hands-on experience in financial reporting. You bring a wealth of knowledge regarding technical accounting principles that enable you to provide insightful advice on regulatory changes. Your interpersonal strengths shine when building relationships with stakeholders across departments or engaging with external advisors. You are adept at facilitating teamwork within communal settings while ensuring compliance with governance standards. Experience replying to audit requests demonstrates your reliability under pressure. Familiarity with IFRS standards, especially IFRS 9, and post-qualification experience within financial services are valuable assets that further distinguish you as an ideal candidate. Your commitment to continuous learning ensures you remain knowledgeable about industry developments while nurturing supportive connections throughout the organisation.

  • ACA qualification or equivalent is essential for demonstrating your technical proficiency in accounting standards.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting coupled with strong technical accounting skills enables you to deliver high-quality outputs consistently.
  • Previous involvement in replying to audit requests showcases your dependability and relationship-building abilities when communicating with auditors.

  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration ensures communal success within the Finance Team.
  • Experience managing interdepartmental partnerships highlights your commitment to teamwork and knowledge sharing.
  • Strong understanding of governance and compliance requirements supports your capacity for responsible reporting activities.
  • Knowledge of IFRS standards, particularly IFRS 9, is highly desirable for navigating complex regulatory environments (nice to have).
