Head of Finance

Exciting new role as Head of Finance within a London based fast growing, profitable start-up, backed by a larger global parent with offices in USA is on the hunt for a Head of Finance with real personality to build their finance function from scratch. Reporting to the COO this pivotal role will be standalone initially and you will take ownership and management of the Finance function and operations This unique role will require 5 days a week in the office to build and scale the finance function.

Reporting to the COO this pivotal role will be standalone initially and you will take ownership and management of the Finance function and operations, with full decision making authority on what should be in-housed, outsourced, and automated.

This unique role will require 5 days a week in the office to build and scale the finance function.

Responsibilities will be varied and include:0

• Own and manage the full quote-to-cash cycle including:

o Quote & contract structure

o Managing our invoicing system & generating invoices

o Collections & cash application

o Revenue recognition & the close

o Working with engineers / data scientists to implement new invoicing models for usage-based pricing agreements

• Drive automation and improvement of processes and controls:

o Use AI finance solutions and leverage our technical staff to run a highly automated, lean finance function

o Support new system implementations and accounting tool integrations

• Manage finance operations, internal controls & compliance including:

o Cash management across entities and currencies

o Inter company management: recharges, balances, funding flows and transfer pricing documentation with our advisers

o Tax and statutory compliance

o Ensure compliance with GAAP / IFRS, company policies, and regulatory requirements

o Lead external audits and coordinate with auditors for timely completion

o Provide guidance on treatment for accounting issues

o Draft and maintain accounting policies and memos for key transactions

• Oversee our accounting and reporting (managing management account and / or external service providers:

o Financial statement preparation in accordance with US GAAP / IFRS (for UK entity)

o Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes

o Managing ongoing accounting activities including AP, AR, payroll accounting, and cash management

• Keep Junior financing ready and support fundraising

o Opportunity to support in leading fundraising rounds

o Own customer-facing financial diligence

o Own banking and credit facility relationships

• FP&A and business operations

o Collaborate with FP&A, operations, and cross-functional leaders to provide analysis and insights

o Support budget vs. actual variance analysis

In addition you will manage the build out of the finance function and in time build a Team in line with the future growth strategic plan.

To be successful in this role you will be an ambitious career driven, self starter with 6+ years of finance experience including high-growth within a B2B/Consultancy or SaaS startup; with ideally 2+years of finance leadership experience:

• Holds an accounting certification - ACA/ACCA/CIMA or CPA), ideally from a Big 4 Accounting Practice
• 2+ years of experience managing complex quote-to-cash structures
• 2+ years of experience as sole in a Head of Finance or Controllership role
• Versed in complex quote-to-cash structures: Junior uses highly bespoke usage based pricing models with significant variation across customers and product lines
• Proven experience in designing & implementing accounting processes from the ground-up and build a best in class accounting system
• Proficient in US GAAP, familiarity with IFRS and/or UK GAAP
• AI-native: daily user of Claude and familiar with AI finance tools
