Credit Control Team Leader
A leading organisation in Lancashire is seeking a Credit Control Team Leader to join their finance team. This role offers you the opportunity to play a pivotal part in shaping the Credit Control team, supporting the finance department, and contributing to the business’s journey of continuous improvement and growth.
As a Credit Control Team Leader based in Greater Manchester you will be entrusted with managing a talented group of Credit Controllers while supporting the broader Accounts Receivable function. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve overseeing account allocations, monitoring debt recovery efforts, prioritising workloads to meet SLAs and KPIs, and ensuring meticulous record-keeping. You will regularly review performance with your team members, identify areas for training or improvement, and foster an atmosphere of collaboration. By preparing reconciliations and reports on trade debtors and bad debts, you will contribute directly to financial accuracy.
Specific duties include:
- Provide effective management of the Credit Control team and their allocated customer accounts, ensuring outstanding debts are collected in line with company policy and payment terms.
- Manage, train, and develop team members by holding regular one-to-one performance reviews, identifying training needs, and fostering professional growth within the team.
- Prioritise workload within the Credit Control team to meet service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently.
- Ensure Credit Controllers maintain accurate records of chasing activities and payment promises, supporting transparency and accountability across all accounts.
- Monitor aged debts closely, drive continuous improvement in days sales outstanding (DSO), and ensure the age profile of total debtors is managed within agreed targets.
- Set KPIs for the team, monitor progress, and encourage a proactive approach to collecting outstanding debt through regular feedback and guidance.
The ideal candidate for the Credit Control Team Leader position brings substantial experience from credit control environments where delivery against targets was achieved through collaborative effort. Your background demonstrates proficiency in managing teams—guiding them through regular reviews, identifying training needs, adapting communication styles according to audience requirements, and nurturing professional development.
You should also have experience in tje following areas:
- Experience working within Credit Control with proven ability to deliver results in cash collection while minimising risk across multiple accounts.
- Demonstrated capability in managing and developing teams through effective communication, regular performance reviews, training identification, and fostering professional growth.
- Excellent negotiation skills that enable you to resolve issues tactfully with customers while maintaining positive relationships.
- Advanced Excel skills combined with strong analytical abilities that allow you to interpret data accurately for reporting purposes.
- Experience using ERP systems; familiarity with SAP is preferred but not essential for success in this role.
- Highly organised approach with efficient planning skills that ensure deadlines are consistently met without compromising quality.
- Strong issue resolution abilities that empower you to escalate problems appropriately while maintaining clear communication channels.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills that facilitate collaboration within teams as well as building trust with internal colleagues such as Regional Managers.
