An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Payable Supervisor to join a supportive and collaborative finance team based in Central London on a 3-month fixed term contract. This role offers you the chance to take ownership of all aspects of the accounts payable and employee expenses process, while also supervising two dedicated team members. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring robust systems and controls are maintained, with a strong focus on identifying and implementing process improvements that will drive efficiency and accuracy across the department. With a competitive salary of £40,000 - £45,000, this position is perfect for someone who thrives on responsibility, enjoys nurturing others, and is passionate about delivering high-quality financial operations.

Responsibilities:

* Oversee all aspects of the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and employee expenses.

* Supervise and support two team members, fostering a positive and engaged working environment that encourages collaboration and growth.

* Maintain robust systems, processes, and controls for purchase ledger and employee expense management to ensure compliance with company policies.

* Manage the purchase ledger mailbox efficiently by posting supplier documents promptly and addressing queries as they arise.

* Ensure correct coding of invoices to appropriate cost centres or projects to maintain data integrity across financial records.

* Allocate supplier payments daily to keep ledgers up-to-date and provide clear visibility over outstanding balances.

* Generate regular payment forecasts to assist with cash flow planning and support wider business decision-making.

* Regularly review master data to ensure it is accurate, complete, and cleansed of any outdated information.

* Investigate and resolve debit balances on supplier ledgers swiftly to prevent discrepancies from escalating.

* Complete timely supplier statement reconciliations to guarantee completeness and accuracy of supplier ledgers.

The Ideal Candidate:

* Demonstrable experience in a similar accounts payable supervisory role within a busy finance environment is essential for success in this position.

* Proven ability to manage high volumes of invoices (circa 3,000 per month) while maintaining exceptional accuracy levels throughout all tasks undertaken.

* Strong prioritisation skills that enable you to balance multiple responsibilities effectively without compromising quality or deadlines.

* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel is required for efficient data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation activities.

* A solid understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles ensures accurate financial record-keeping at all times.

* Excellent communication skills are vital for liaising with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and supporting your team members through periods of change.

* A positive can-do attitude combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving helps drive continuous improvement across processes.

* Outstanding organisational abilities allow you to keep track of numerous tasks simultaneously while remaining calm under pressure.

* A collaborative mindset makes you an invaluable team player who contributes positively to group objectives during challenging periods.

* Experience adhering to company policies regarding health & safety, information security, environmental standards, quality management systems, and disaster recovery protocols is highly desirable.
