Credit Controller

Location: West Bromwich (4 days office-based, 1 day remote)
Salary: £32,000 per annum
Contract: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract
Start Date: ASAP

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Credit Controller to join a busy finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys building strong customer relationships while ensuring outstanding debt is managed effectively.

Based in West Bromwich, you will play a key role in maintaining cash flow, reducing aged debt, and supporting the wider finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
• Proactively contact customers via phone and email to resolve overdue invoices.
• Monitor aged debt reports and take appropriate action to minimise risk.
• Investigate and resolve invoice and payment queries efficiently.
• Allocate incoming payments and reconcile customer accounts.
• Produce regular debtor reports and updates for management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and customers.
• Collaborate with sales and operational teams to resolve disputes and improve payment performance.
• Assist with month-end reporting and credit control administration.
• Ensure all customer records and account notes are accurately maintained.

About You

• Previous experience within a Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or Collections role.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Confident dealing with customers and stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritise effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems.
• Positive, resilient, and results-driven approach.
• Experience working within a fast-paced business environment is desirable.
