The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Accounts Assistant to join a growing finance team based in Birmingham on an initial 6-month contract. This role offers a hybrid working pattern, with 4 days per week in the office and 1 day from home.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong transactional finance experience looking to join a fast-paced environment and make an immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing purchase invoices and ensuring accurate coding
• Assisting with sales ledger activities, including invoicing and credit control
• Performing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
• Supporting month-end processes, including journal entries and accruals
• Managing supplier queries and maintaining positive relationships
• Assisting with payment runs
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Providing general administrative support to the finance team

About You

• Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
• Strong understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes
• Confident using Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Sage, Xero, SAP or similar)
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills
