Financial Accountant
Group Financial Accountant £50k - £65k + bonus Manchester
Robert Walters are exclusively partnering with an exciting, PE-backed organisation in the search for their new Group Financial Accountant. This is a broad role in which you will own the Group’s external financial reporting, tax compliance, key balance sheet controls and regular project work around systems, processes and new entity integration.
Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring the Group's audit, VAT, corporation tax, and external reporting processes are robust, efficient, and fit for purpose. In addition, you will gain exposure to management reporting by working closely with the Management Accounts team during the month-end close process.
This position is well suited to a dynamic practice trained individual looking for a varied first move into industry, or a second move into a more varied role within a PE backed business.
The Role
- Lead the annual audit process including being a key point of contact for external stakeholders.
- Manage the corporation tax and VAT process.
- Oversee the complex Group accounting areas, including IFRS 16 compliance, accounting judgements and related reconciliations.
- Own selected balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring balances are supported, risks identified and actions resolved.
- Support month-end management accounting, including journals, key balance reviews and appropriate stakeholder management.
- Prioritises competing audit, tax, reporting and month-end deadlines using sound judgement.
- Identify opportunities to embed new and enhance existing financial controls.
- Communicates technical accounting and tax matters clearly to finance and business stakeholders.
- Integrate new entities from a financial date and systems perspective.
Experience:
- Fully qualified accountant, ideally ACA-qualified with practice experience.
- Strong technical accounting expertise, including statutory reporting, external audit, and balance sheet control.
- Experience preparing and/or reviewing VAT returns and corporation tax computations.
- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyse, reconcile, and interpret large data sets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify, explain, and resolve variances.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence, challenge constructively, and build strong relationships with stakeholders, auditors, and external advisers.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and consistently meet deadlines.
This is an opportunity to join a high growth, profitable PE backed business in a high-exposure, varied financial reporting role which will offer regular project work. You'll report into a high calibre Group FC who will drive your professional growth in a setting which promotes work-life balance and flexibility. A great first / second move for an ambitious ACA qualified finance professional looking to go down the Finance Director route.
