Python Engineer – Front Office Analytics (Athena)

💰 £500–600/day

Join a high-performing global analytics engineering team within a leading investment banking environment, delivering cutting-edge data and analytics solutions used across front office and securities services functions. You’ll work alongside quantitative researchers, technologists, and senior stakeholders on large-scale analytical applications built on the Athena platform.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Developing and enhancing analytics applications in a fast-paced engineering team of 12
• Building scalable solutions primarily in Python (around 80%) with some React/TypeScript development
• Working across the full SDLC: requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and support
• Collaborating closely with business stakeholders, quants, and global technology teams
• Developing solutions within Athena, the bank’s strategic cross-asset analytics platform
• Troubleshooting complex technical issues and contributing to long-term strategic solutions

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong Python development experience in enterprise environments
• Exposure to React / TypeScript
• Athena platform experience highly desirable
• Experience building analytics, data, or financial applications
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Understanding of Agile, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices

Ideal Background

• 3+ years’ software engineering experience
• Strong analytical mindset with solid computer science fundamentals
• Comfortable working in globally distributed teams within complex environments
