Lead Java Engineer - Fixed Income

A leading global financial institution is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join its Rates & Credit Trading Technology team in London. The role focuses on developing next-generation trading platforms supporting Fixed Income products across global markets. This is an opportunity to work on high-performance, low-latency systems in a fast-paced front-office environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable Java-based trading applications
• Build and optimise low-latency, high-performance systems
• Conduct code reviews and promote engineering best practices
• Mentor junior developers and support continuous improvement within the team
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance and scalability issues
• Produce and maintain technical documentation
• Contribute to Agile delivery processes including sprint planning and retrospectives

Key Requirements

• Strong core Java development experience with deep knowledge of multi-threading and concurrency
• Expertise in low-latency system design and performance tuning
• Experience with high-performance messaging technologies and network/socket programming
• Strong profiling and benchmarking skills, including heap dump and memory analysis
• Linux/Bash scripting experience
• Exposure to additional languages such as Python or C#
• Knowledge of technologies such as LMAX Disruptor, Chronicle Queue/Map, Aeron/Agrona, or similar frameworks
• Experience working within trading or financial services environments is advantageous
