Chief Technology Officer - Financial Services

Our client is a growing financial services organisation investing heavily in technology, AI, and digital transformation. They are seeking a Chief Technology Officer to modernise the technology function, drive architectural change, and build a scalable engineering capability within a regulated environment. Leading a lean UK team of approximately 12–15 people, this role requires someone who is comfortable building teams, improving processes, and creating a high-performance engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the company’s technology strategy across cloud, engineering, architecture, and AI.
• Lead the transition toward modern event-driven and API-first architectures.
• Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing technology team and operating model.
• Improve engineering processes, DevOps practices, governance, and delivery standards.
• Drive AI and automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
• Lead integration partnerships with lenders and third-party financial services providers.
• Ensure strong cybersecurity, compliance, and data governance practices across the technology estate.
• Partner with executive leadership to align technology with long-term business growth.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior technology leadership role within financial services or another regulated environment.
• Strong background in cloud technologies, modern software architecture, APIs, and event-driven systems.
• Experience delivering AI/ML-enabled solutions within enterprise environments.
• Track record of building and scaling technology teams and improving engineering culture.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, cloud governance, cybersecurity, and software delivery best practices.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior external partners and executive teams.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with a visible, collaborative, and hands-on approach.
• Real estate, PropTech, or lender integration experience would be highly advantageous.
