Data Platform Engineer - Media (Snowflake, dbt, CI/CD)

Robert Walters are partnering with a rapidly growing international advisory organisation seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join their expanding Technology & Innovation team in London.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will help shape and evolve a modern Snowflake-based data platform underpinning critical analytics and advisory services across the business.

The team is moving away from legacy reporting and workflow tooling towards a more scalable engineering-led environment where data products are treated with the same discipline as software applications — version controlled, tested, automated and continuously deployed.

This role combines hands-on platform engineering, release management, operational reliability and modern DataOps practices.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Owning release lifecycle processes for data products, including deployment strategy, environment promotion and rollback processes
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
• Driving engineering best practice around Git workflows, code review and release governance
• Managing the operational health of the Snowflake platform including performance optimisation, monitoring and access controls
• Supporting migration of legacy Alteryx and cloud-based workflows into scalable modern platform architecture
• Contributing to infrastructure automation and reproducible environment management
• Supporting platform observability, logging, alerting and incident management processes
• Working closely with analysts and data scientists to establish scalable interfaces, reusable data products and engineering standards
• Producing clear documentation, operational runbooks and engineering best practice guidance

About You

This role would suit a technically strong engineer who enjoys building maintainable, scalable and operationally robust data platforms.

You will ideally bring experience across:

• Snowflake platform engineering
• dbt development and deployment
• Python for automation and pipeline tooling
• CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions
• Git workflows and code review practices
• Automated testing and data quality frameworks
• SQL optimisation and data modelling
• Platform monitoring and operational troubleshooting
• Cloud-based data environments across AWS and/or Azure
• Infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform (desirable)
• Workflow orchestration tools including Airflow, Prefect or Dagster (desirable)
