GCP Data Architect

GCP Data Architect * Location: London – 2-3 days per week onsite * Duration: 6 Months (Initial) * Rate: £650 - £725 per day * IR35 Status: Inside IR35 * Availability: Mid-late September starts

A leading London-based media organisation is seeking an experienced GCP Data Architect for a high-impact, 6-month contract. You will design, scale, and modernise data platforms utilizing a cutting-edge Modern Data Stack (MDS). This role bridges high-level architectural design with hands-on framework establishment.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture Design: Define robust data architectures leveraging Google Cloud Platform.
• Data Modelling: Lead enterprise-scale data modeling and warehousing strategy within Google BigQuery.
• Pipeline Orchestration: Design scalable workflow automation and ingestion pipelines using Apache Airflow.
• Transformation Layer: Establish best practices for data transformation, testing, and documentation using dbt.
• Governance & Security: Implement and enforce strict Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), data governance, and security protocols across the GCP ecosystem.

Required Skills & Experience

• GCP Expertise: Proven track record as a Data Architect within Google Cloud environments.
• BigQuery Mastery: Deep knowledge of BigQuery optimization, partitioning, clustering, and cost management.
• Security & Governance: Deep understanding of GCP IAM policies, dataset permissions, and implementing enterprise-wide RBAC.
• Orchestration: Extensive experience engineering complex workflows with Apache Airflow (or Cloud Composer).
• Modern Data Stack: Expert-level proficiency with dbt (Data Build Tool) for enterprise transformations.
• Delivery Capability: Experience working in agile, fast-paced contract environments.
