Standalone Tax Manager - Asset Manager

We are partnering with a highly regarded investment management business seeking a standalone Tax Manager to lead all tax matters across the organisation. This is a broad and commercially focused role with significant exposure to senior stakeholders and responsibility for overseeing both UK and international tax matters across corporate entities and investment structures.

The successful individual will act as the internal tax subject matter expert, working closely with Finance leadership and external advisers while supporting wider governance and operational initiatives across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Tax & Compliance

• Lead all UK corporate tax compliance activities
• Oversee tax reporting and filing requirements across UK and international corporate and investment structures
• Manage relationships with external tax advisers and professional service providers
• Provide technical tax advice to stakeholders across the business
• Review tax provisions, disclosures, tax governance documentation and risk assessments
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess the impact on the business
• Support tax governance, risk management and regulatory compliance initiatives

Employment Tax

• Manage employment tax matters relating to payroll, benefits, incentive schemes and reward structures
• Provide expert guidance on employment tax issues across the business
• Ensure compliance with relevant UK tax legislation and reporting requirements

Finance & Business Support

• Partner with the Finance function on a range of projects and initiatives
• Support treasury-related activities and key financial controls
• Review financial reporting for investment vehicles and associated structures
• Contribute to broader business projects requiring tax expertise
• Drive process improvement and strengthen governance frameworks

Candidate Profile

• ACA, ACCA, CTA, CA or equivalent professional qualification
• Strong corporate tax background with exposure to UK tax compliance and advisory work
• Previous in-house tax experience is essential
• Experience managing relationships with external advisers and stakeholders
• Good understanding of tax governance, risk management and regulatory requirements
• Exposure to international tax matters would be advantageous
• Financial services experience is beneficial but not essential
• Commercially minded with the ability to translate technical tax matters into practical business advice
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proactive, collaborative and comfortable operating in a standalone tax role
• Strong analytical and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
