UK Corporate Tax Senior Manager

Salary: Competitive and based on experience

Location: London

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a UK Corporate Tax Senior Manager to join a highly respected investment banking institution in London. This pivotal role offers you the chance to safeguard the financial interests of a global leader, using your expertise to ensure tax compliance, mitigate risks, and influence strategic decision-making at the highest level. You will be part of a collaborative and knowledgeable team, where your technical insight and analytical skills will be valued and nurtured. The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive culture, providing flexible working opportunities and ongoing training to help you grow both personally and professionally. If you are looking for a position that combines technical challenge with meaningful impact, this is the perfect next step in your career.

  • Play a key role in shaping tax strategy, compliance, and reporting for a major international financial institution, ensuring robust processes and accurate outputs.
  • Collaborate with talented colleagues across multiple teams, gaining exposure to complex business activity while supporting high-quality decision-making.
  • Benefit from a supportive leadership team that values continuous improvement, professional development, and flexible working arrangements tailored to your needs.

What you'll do:

As a UK Corporate Tax Senior Manager, you will play an integral part in the corporate tax forecasting, reporting, and compliance function. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you acting as a trusted subject matter expert—providing technical guidance on complex issues while taking ownership of key deliverables that underpin the organisation’s financial integrity. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across Finance and Tax to offer clear insights into tax positions that inform high-quality decision-making. In addition to resolving specific technical challenges as they arise, you will participate in strategic projects linked to business transformation initiatives. Your proactive approach will drive continuous improvement in processes while supporting risk management activities. By partnering with various teams—including those overseas—you will ensure that group compliance obligations are fulfilled efficiently. Furthermore, you will engage with external stakeholders such as auditors or HMRC when required and play an active role in developing less experienced team members through coaching.

  • Prepare or review relevant tax returns in accordance with applicable tax law, ensuring compliance positions are agreed with tax authorities and all obligations are met accurately and on time.
  • Oversee the preparation or review of tax accounting calculations and disclosures in line with current accounting standards for group forecasting, reporting, and stress testing requirements.
  • Provide detailed technical insight, analysis, and conclusions on a wide range of tax technical areas to determine appropriate treatments for complex transactions.
  • Monitor developments in tax law to assess their impact on the organisation, ensuring changes are understood, communicated effectively, and managed proactively.
  • Design and operate robust tax process controls that support risk management objectives and provide clear evidence for all tax treatments adopted by the group.
  • Contribute to or set strategy within the department by planning resources, budgets, policies, and driving continuous improvements across all processes.
  • Advise key stakeholders—including functional leadership teams and senior management—on cross-functional impacts of tax matters, aligning recommendations with broader business goals.
  • Manage risks through comprehensive assessment activities that support the control and governance agenda while strengthening internal controls related to tax work.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams such as Tax Advisory, Finance, overseas tax functions, auditors, HMRC representatives, and external providers to ensure group-wide compliance obligations are met.
  • Support junior team members through coaching and mentoring while participating in strategic projects arising from business change or regulatory developments.

What you bring:

To excel as a UK Corporate Tax Senior Manager in this prestigious setting, you will bring extensive experience gained from working within large multinational organisations—ideally those headquartered in the UK. Your background should include hands-on involvement with both compliance processes and group-level reporting underpinned by recognised professional qualifications such as ACA or CTA. You will have developed advanced analytical abilities enabling you to interpret complex legislation while maintaining meticulous attention to detail across all deliverables. Your communication style should be clear yet approachable; you must be able to translate intricate technical concepts into actionable advice for colleagues at every level of seniority. A collaborative mindset is essential: you thrive when working alongside others towards shared objectives—whether supporting peers within your immediate team or engaging constructively with external partners like auditors or regulators. Adaptability is another key strength; you remain composed amid shifting priorities or regulatory updates while always seeking ways to improve existing processes. Experience within financial services taxation is beneficial but not essential; what matters most is your commitment to upholding rigorous standards of accuracy, transparency, and ethical conduct throughout your work.

  • Hold ACA/CTA qualification (or local country equivalent), demonstrating strong academic grounding in accountancy or taxation principles relevant to large multinational businesses.
  • Possess significant experience managing tax compliance or group tax reporting processes within a UK-headquartered multinational environment.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to handle complex tax accounting analysis covering diverse technical areas within corporate taxation.
  • Showcase excellent interpersonal skills by working collaboratively within large teams as well as across different departments outside of Tax.
  • Exhibit initiative by identifying opportunities for process improvement and successfully implementing changes that enhance efficiency or accuracy.
  • Communicate complex technical issues clearly to non-specialist audiences including senior stakeholders or cross-functional leadership teams.
  • Display flexibility by adapting quickly to changing priorities or evolving regulatory landscapes within the financial services sector.
  • Bring commercial awareness when analysing transactional activity or advising on business-aligned support areas impacting group operations.
  • Experience of dealing with tax issues affecting financial services groups is highly desirable but not essential for success in this role.
  • Awareness of OECD Global Minimum Tax rules would be advantageous but is not mandatory.
