This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting robust governance, effective controls, and proactive risk management across Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. With flexible hybrid working arrangements, extensive learning and development opportunities, and a supportive culture that encourages you to bring your true self to work, this position provides both variety and visibility.
As a Risk and Governance Specialist based in Manchester City Centre (with hybrid working), you will play an integral role in maintaining a well-controlled financial operations environment. Your daily responsibilities will involve partnering with various teams—including operational leaders, finance stakeholders, internal audit professionals, and compliance experts—to reinforce governance frameworks. You will manage sanctions compliance activities meticulously while coordinating audit remediation plans that drive sustainable business performance. Investigating customer audit claims or contractual disputes will require your analytical skills as you collaborate with stakeholders for effective resolutions. By providing insightful guidance on governance standards and identifying opportunities for process improvements, you will contribute significantly to strengthening controls across Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
Key duties include:
- Support and continuously improve governance and control frameworks across Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable by collaborating closely with operational teams.
- Manage day-to-day sanctions compliance activities, ensuring screening, escalation, and decision-making processes are completed in line with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Coordinate audit remediation plans by defining actions clearly, assigning ownership, and ensuring timely delivery of corrective measures.
- Investigate customer audit claims and contractual disputes by working with stakeholders across departments to achieve effective resolution.
- Partner with operational, commercial, and finance teams to improve controls, reduce risk, and strengthen compliance throughout financial operations.

- Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and enhance governance across all areas of Financial Operations.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and best practice by sharing insights and encouraging positive change among colleagues.
- Build relationships across the business by influencing decisions, solving problems collaboratively, investigating issues thoroughly, and helping shape how risk and governance are managed.
- Work closely with Internal Audit and Compliance functions to ensure alignment on risk management strategies and maintain a resilient control environment.
Your proven experience in financial operations—particularly within risk management or governance—will be invaluable as a Risk and Governance Specialist. You bring deep knowledge of internal controls alongside familiarity with audit processes that enable you to support effective remediation plans. Your exceptional organisational skills allow you to juggle multiple priorities without compromising on quality or accuracy. Analytical thinking paired with investigative problem-solving means you can tackle complex customer audit claims or contractual disputes confidently. Attention to detail is crucial when executing compliance activities according to strict regulatory standards. Your ability to influence stakeholders positively fosters collaboration across operational teams while driving improvements in control effectiveness.
You should have experience in the following areas:
- Experience within Financial Operations, Risk Management, Governance, Audit Controls or Compliance environments is essential for success in this role.
