Inventory Controller

The Inventory Controller plays a key role in ensuring materials and stock are available to support operational and production requirements. Responsible for maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy, this position utilises ERP/MRP data, demand signals and production schedules to plan material availability, manage replenishment activities and maintain appropriate stock holding levels.

Working collaboratively across Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, Finance and Quality teams, the role focuses on balancing stock availability with inventory efficiency, reducing excess and obsolete stock while supporting uninterrupted production. The position also contributes to wider supply chain planning activities, driving improvements in inventory control processes and ensuring accurate system data at all times.

Health & Safety

  • Promote and maintain a safe, organised and compliant working environment.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company health and safety policies and procedures.

Inventory Control & Accuracy

  • Maintain accurate inventory records across ERP and associated business systems.
  • Coordinate cycle counting programmes and stock audits, ensuring any adjustments are investigated and processed appropriately.
  • Analyse and resolve stock discrepancies in partnership with relevant departments.
  • Ensure inventory transactions and stock movements are recorded accurately and promptly.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, identify root causes of variances and implement preventative actions.
  • Maintain material traceability throughout the supply chain where required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen inventory processes and controls.
  • Monitor stock holdings against agreed inventory policies and planning parameters.
  • Drive actions to reduce slow-moving, surplus, obsolete and quarantined inventory.
  • Develop and improve inventory management processes to enhance stock accuracy and operational performance.
  • Produce inventory KPI reports and provide monthly performance updates.

Planning & Supply Chain Support

  • Ensure material availability aligns with production requirements and schedules.
  • Monitor stock shortages and proactively escalate potential risks to supply continuity.
  • Maintain and optimise warehouse storage locations and stock organisation.
  • Support FIFO principles and best-practice inventory management standards.
  • Assist with material planning and raw material requirements.
  • Liaise with Purchasing to ensure timely replenishment of inventory.
  • Provide broader support to the Supply Chain function as required.

Systems & Operational Support

  • Investigate and resolve inventory-related issues within the ERP system.
  • Provide support to Finance, Sales and Operational teams regarding stock enquiries and data requests.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements, helping to enhance inventory visibility, planning effectiveness and overall supply chain performance.
