Save job

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid – 2–3 days in the office) Salary: Circa £45,000, dependent on experience Contract: Permanent

Are you a procurement professional with experience in public sector sourcing, tendering and contract award processes? Looking for an opportunity to apply your expertise in a more advisory, client-facing role?

We’re working with a growing business that partners with major public sector organisations and leading corporate clients to deliver innovative payment and procurement solutions. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Procurement & Sourcing Lead to join their Client Services team.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of sourcing activity, advise clients on procurement approaches and develop practical solutions that help embed Early Payment opportunities across a range of procurement routes.

Key Responsibilities:

Working closely with clients and internal stakeholders, you’ll help ensure Early Payment solutions are incorporated into sourcing and procurement activity in a commercially effective and compliant manner. You’ll manage allocated opportunities, provide guidance on procurement queries and contribute to strategies for more complex sourcing scenarios.

  • Reviewing tender documentation, pricing schedules and contract materials to identify opportunities to incorporate Early Payment solutions.

  • Advising clients on appropriate sourcing approaches across open procedures, frameworks, call-offs, direct awards and other procurement routes.

  • Providing first-line support on procurement and tendering queries, recommending practical and compliant solutions.

  • Developing approaches for more complex procurement activity, including construction, care, framework agreements and bespoke contracts.

  • Supporting client workshops, stakeholder briefings and the development of procurement guidance.

  • Maintaining accurate records of sourcing activity, progress, risks and next steps.

  • Working alongside Client Success Managers to provide procurement expertise and support successful client outcomes.

  • Engaging with senior stakeholders to resolve challenges and improve the implementation of sourcing solutions.

  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, internal guidance and knowledge sharing.

About You

You’ll be an organised, commercially minded procurement professional who enjoys analysing information, solving problems and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. You’ll be comfortable reviewing procurement documentation, interpreting tender requirements and recommending practical next steps.

  • Experience in procurement, sourcing or commercial activity, preferably within local government or the wider public sector.

  • A good understanding of procurement processes, tender documentation, contract award routes and supplier engagement.

  • CIPS Level 4 qualification, working towards Level 4, or equivalent practical procurement knowledge and experience.

  • The ability to assess procurement opportunities, identify potential issues and recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities across live projects and sourcing activity.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional looking to broaden their experience beyond traditional purchasing or sourcing. You’ll gain exposure to a varied client portfolio, work on a range of procurement challenges and develop specialist expertise in sourcing strategy and Early Payment solutions.

Joining an ambitious and growing business, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, influence how solutions are delivered and develop your expertise within a collaborative, client-focused environment.
