General Manager

Save job

We're partnering with a fast-growing retail e-commerce business looking to appoint a commercially minded General Manager to lead both its online retail operation and associated warehousing, fulfilment and customer delivery functions.

A growing e-commerce retailer is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead its end-to-end warehouse, distribution and customer delivery operation.

Reporting directly to the leadership team, you will take ownership of the entire fulfilment function, ensuring products move efficiently from receipt through to dispatch and final delivery. This is a critical role focused on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, inventory management and continuous improvement.

You will lead a team across warehousing, inventory, fulfilment and logistics, driving performance, service levels and cost efficiencies while supporting the continued growth of the business.

The successful candidate will combine strong commercial acumen with hands-on operational leadership and a proven track record of running a customer-focused e-commerce and logistics operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all warehouse, fulfilment, distribution and logistics operations.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient order fulfilment across e-commerce channels.
  • Drive exceptional OTIF (On Time In Full) performance and customer service levels.
  • Manage inventory accuracy, stock control processes and warehouse optimisation.
  • Oversee inbound logistics, goods receipt, storage, picking, packing and dispatch operations.
  • Manage relationships with courier, transport and third-party logistics providers.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs covering service, productivity, accuracy, cost and customer experience.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Support peak trading periods through effective capacity and resource planning.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, operational procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, motivate and develop warehouse and logistics teams, creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

About You

  • Proven experience in a General Manager, Operations Director, Head of Operations, Warehouse & Logistics Manager or Ecommerce Operations leadership role.
  • Strong background within a retail, direct-to-consumer, e-commerce or omnichannel environment.
  • Experience leading warehousing, fulfilment and distribution operations.
  • Commercially astute with responsibility for budgets, P&L and operational performance.
  • Demonstrable track record of improving service, efficiency and profitability.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, order fulfilment and supply chain processes.
  • Data-driven with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Inspirational people leader with the ability to engage teams and drive change.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
