A growing FMCG business with a global reputation is searching for a Quality Systems Lead to join their well-established facility near Wrexham, offering a competitive salary of £50,000 - £55,000 p/a plus additional benefits including an annual bonus scheme. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about product safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement within the fast-moving consumer goods sector. As the Quality Systems Lead, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping and maintaining the plant Safety & Quality Management systems, ensuring legal compliance and exceptional product standards. You will be empowered to drive positive change across the business, working closely with cross-functional teams to embed a culture of quality and safety.

What you'll do:

Reporting directly to the Head of Quality, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring that every aspect of product safety and quality is meticulously managed throughout the plant. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with various departments to refine existing systems while proactively identifying areas for improvement. You will take ownership of internal audits, preparing thoroughly for external assessments and ensuring that all documentation is accurate and compliant with industry standards. By fostering strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders alike, you will help build a culture where quality is everyone’s responsibility. Your ability to communicate clearly about complex issues will be essential as you guide teams through change management processes. Success in this role means not only meeting but exceeding regulatory requirements while nurturing an environment where continuous improvement thrives.

  • Champion the development and maintenance of the site’s QMS to ensure robust documentation and process control.
  • Collaborate with Operations teams to establish, review, and enhance procedures, standards, and systems that underpin safety and quality.
  • Conduct thorough internal process and system audits, preparing for corporate, customer, third-party, and internal audits by managing action trackers and SAP QM documentation.
  • Prepare detailed customer specifications and Declarations of Compliance to guarantee all products meet regulatory requirements and client expectations.
  • Ensure local supplier approval processes are followed rigorously by maintaining up-to-date contract records and supporting new resin/material qualification submissions via SAP.
  • Document Hazard Analysis & Risk Assessment (HARA) team activities by recording reviews and audit findings accurately for future reference.
  • Promote adherence to all local and company safety policies as well as housekeeping/6S requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Comply fully with operational procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), instruction manuals, and any other relevant documentation as required by the business.

What you bring:

To excel as a Quality Systems Lead, you will need to bring proven experience from an FMCG manufacturing environment such as food, packaging or liquid filling where supplier engagement, audit management, and quality system coordination have been central to your role:

  • Demonstrated experience within FMCG industries involving supplier/customer contact, audit management, and coordination of Quality Systems.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills enabling you to compose clear customer communications and detailed audit reports.
  • Advanced computer literacy including proficiency with MS Office software suite; comfortable interfacing with ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Meticulous attention to detail ensuring precision and accuracy in all work outputs while consistently striving for high standards in product safety and quality.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience participating in or leading BRCGS, AIB International Standards inspections, GMP practices, ISO9001 or EN15343 compliance initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Track record of driving continual quality improvement initiatives within a manufacturing setting through effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to document risk assessment activities comprehensively while supporting HARA team reviews/audits as needed.
