Equipment Product Assurance Manager
Equipment Product Assurance Manager – Digital Payload Location: Portsmouth Salary: Competitive, negotiable depending on experience Job Type: Ongoing Contract (outside IR35)
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Equipment Product Assurance professional to support advanced digital payload programmes within a highly technical engineering environment. The role involves working on complex space equipment, ensuring that all products meet defined customer and contractual quality requirements throughout the full project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will act as a key member of the project team, taking responsibility for all product assurance activities at equipment level. This includes working closely with internal teams, customers and subcontractors, while maintaining independence and authority over quality-related matters, including the ability to stop activities that may compromise quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring product assurance requirements are implemented across design, procurement, manufacturing and test phases
- Reviewing and approving drawings, procedures and test documentation
- Supporting risk mitigation planning and ensuring compliance with project quality requirements
- Overseeing inspections and quality control activities throughout the equipment lifecycle
- Chairing and supporting key reviews such as Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and Delivery Review Boards (DRB)
- Leading non-conformance investigations and chairing review boards to drive resolution
- Monitoring quality performance, including reporting of NCR trends and continuous improvement activities
- Ensuring supplier and subcontractor quality requirements are met, including audits where required
- Acting as the main interface with customers on all equipment-level quality matters
Candidates should have:
- Proven experience in product assurance, quality engineering or a similar role within a complex engineering or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of product assurance requirements for space, aerospace or similarly regulated industries
- Experience working with digital or RF electronic equipment (desirable)
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage quality issues effectively
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A relevant technical qualification such as an HNC or degree
