Senior Conflicts Lawyer - Leading Global Law Firm
A prestigious international law firm is seeking a Senior Conflicts Lawyer to join their London office, offering you the opportunity to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity and reputation of a globally recognised legal practice.
Key responsibilities:
- Advise attorneys and other stakeholders within the firm on the information required to complete thorough conflicts of interest checks for new matters and lateral hires.
- Review and analyse complex conflicts of interest reports to identify potential issues requiring attention or resolution.
- Prepare concise summary reports for relevant attorneys highlighting potential conflicts issues and follow up to ensure prompt resolution, including determining whether waivers are necessary.
- Counsel partners, counsel, associates, and other personnel on conflicts matters as they arise throughout the lifecycle of client engagements.
- Assist with drafting and reviewing waiver letters and engagement letter provisions to ensure all conflicts scenarios are adequately addressed.
- Establish information screens when required to protect sensitive information and maintain ethical standards within the firm.
- Conduct tailored trainings for lawyers and other personnel on conflicts issues specific to various practice areas within the firm.
- Work collaboratively with the Office of General Counsel and other stakeholders in building out the conflicts clearance function for the London office.
Skills required:
- Strong working knowledge of conflicts of interest rules under US Rules of Professional Conduct is essential for accurate analysis and guidance.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required so you can articulate complex conflicts issues clearly to senior lawyers.
- Highly developed analytical abilities enable you to address intricate questions related to conflict identification and resolution.
- Exceptional organisational skills paired with meticulous attention to detail ensure effective issue-tracking, follow-up, and resolution.
- Ability to respond appropriately in demanding environments characterised by shifting priorities and tight deadlines is crucial.
- Aptitude for quickly learning about diverse practice areas within the firm allows you to understand how conflict issues manifest across disciplines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is necessary for preparing reports and managing documentation efficiently.
- Capacity to learn new software programs ensures adaptability as technology evolves within the firm’s operations.
