What you'll do:
- Manage a varied caseload of residential property matters from instruction through to completion, ensuring all transactions progress smoothly and efficiently.
- Provide clear, empathetic advice to clients on all aspects of residential conveyancing including sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, and leasehold matters.
- Draft and review contracts, transfer documents, and other legal paperwork with meticulous attention to detail while maintaining compliance with current legislation.
- Liaise considerately with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other solicitors to ensure effective communication throughout each transaction.
- Conduct thorough title checks and searches to identify any potential issues or risks associated with properties being transacted.
- Maintain accurate records of all correspondence and documentation using case management systems in line with regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the department to share knowledge and support each other’s caseloads during busy periods or absences.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in property law and best practices by participating in regular training sessions provided by the firm.
- Demonstrate sensitivity when handling complex or sensitive client situations, always acting in their best interests while upholding the highest ethical standards.
What you bring:
- Qualified solicitor (either 4+PQE or 3+PQE with pre-qualification experience) or a Chartered Legal Executive/Conveyancer with comparable experience
- Experience handling residential conveyancing matters independently from start to finish within a reputable legal practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling you to explain complex legal concepts in an accessible manner for clients from all backgrounds.
- Strong organisational abilities allowing you to manage multiple files simultaneously while maintaining accuracy under pressure.
- Proficiency in using modern case management systems and digital tools relevant to conveyancing processes.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current residential property law including recent legislative changes affecting transactions.
- A collaborative approach that fosters positive relationships with colleagues as well as external stakeholders such as estate agents and lenders.
- Empathy and patience when dealing with clients who may be experiencing stress or uncertainty during their property transactions.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development demonstrated by participation in training sessions or pursuit of additional qualifications related to property law.
