A leading international law firm in London is hiring an NQ Pensions Lawyer to join a well-regarded team. You will advise trustees, employers and insurers across the full range of pensions work, from de-risking and buy-ins to corporate transactions and scheme advice. As an NQ, you will see the breadth of the practice with early responsibility and partner exposure. Salary: £145,000.

The opportunity
A leading international law firm is looking for a newly qualified pensions lawyer to join its London pensions team. The team is well regarded in the market and acts for trustees, employers, insurers and fund managers on a wide range of mandates. As an NQ, you will not be pigeonholed. The role is deliberately broad, and you will work across the practice from your first day.

The team and the work
The team advises across the full spectrum of pensions work, including:

• De-risking and insurance transactions: buy-ins, buy-outs and longevity deals, acting for trustees, employers and insurers
• Corporate and transactional support: advising on the pensions aspects of M&A, restructurings and sector-specific deals, including in the energy sector
• Trustee and employer advice: governance, funding, benefit changes, member communications and scheme management
• Regulatory and compliance matters: supporting clients on evolving pensions legislation and regulator engagement
• Work for a varied client base: insurers, fund managers, trustees and corporates, including public bodies and major multinationals

What you will do

• Take real responsibility for a share of live matters, with direct partner and senior associate contact
• Draft and review scheme documents, deeds, rules and ancillary documents
• Support on de-risking transactions from instruction through to completion
• Research and advise on pensions law, regulation and case law
• Work with colleagues across corporate, employment and finance teams
• Contribute to business development, client updates and thought leadership

About you

• Newly qualified (Sep 2025 qualified or qualifying in 2027), with a pensions seat or relevant experience from your training contract
• A strong academic background and excellent drafting skills
• Commercial awareness and a client-focused approach
• Curiosity about the pensions market and a wish to build a long-term career in it
• A collaborative, practical team player who wants early responsibility
