Legal Adviser

Exciting opportunity for someone with previous experience of working in-house as a legal counsel or contracts manager/adviser. This role will be the first legal hire for this business and is such an exciting opportunity for someone keen to take ownership of the contracts legal function.

The Legal Adviser will be responsible for providing specialist commercial contracts and legal advisory support to a UK focused business providing HVAC systems on a large commercial scale.

You will be a key advisor to senior stakeholders and the first legal hire for this business. You will be involved in supporting across complex project, supply, and service arrangements by drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, identifying and managing contractual risk, and providing clear, pragmatic advice to stakeholders. The role supports effective decision-making and operational delivery through robust commercial contracting, aligned with approved governance and delegated authorities. In addition, the role contributes to broader legal and compliance activities.

We are looking for candidates who have the following skills / experience:

• Strong experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts in a Business-to-Business environment

• Knowledge of construction specific contract frameworks, with experience of their application in the context of provision of goods, installations, and ongoing services

• Sound knowledge of contract law and commercial risk management

• Experience operating within an engineering, construction, manufacturing or services environment and proven track record negotiating subcontract and main contract terms

• Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy while acting in an advisory capacity

• Experience working within a group or matrix-managed organisation

Our client are open to candidates who are qualified lawyers but this is not a prerequisite for the role.
