Senior Wealth Planner
A prestigious wealth management firm in London is seeking a Senior Wealth Planner to join their dedicated team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a niche environment where excellence, authenticity, and empathy are at the heart of everything they do. You will be instrumental in supporting a Wealth Manager with the administrative management of client portfolios, helping to build and nurture client relationships, and contributing to the growth of the business.
As a Senior Wealth Planner in this esteemed London-based firm, you will play an integral role in supporting the Wealth Manager through every stage of client engagement—from onboarding new clients to maintaining long-term relationships. Our client is looking for a Chartered Financial Planner with at least five years’ experience in a wealth management support role. CISI or IAD Level 4 qualifications and relevant FCA certification are desirable. The role requires strong judgement, accuracy, autonomy and a collaborative approach.
The role:
Client relationships and financial planning
- Provide comprehensive financial planning and administrative support through client onboarding, ongoing reviews and relationship management.
- Communicate proactively with existing and prospective clients, collect information for cashflow planning and follow up on outstanding documentation.
- Prepare meeting agendas, presentations, reviews and supporting documents; review historical notes to identify relevant topics.
- Present cashflow plans alongside the Wealth Manager and adjust assumptions, data and objectives during client discussions.
- Prepare clear, accurate client reports, including capital gains tax calculations, and draft recommendation letters under the Wealth Manager’s supervision.
- Attend client meetings, record discussions, prepare technical meeting summaries and ensure follow-up actions are assigned and completed.
- Apply knowledge of US and international tax and regulatory considerations to relevant client circumstances
Portfolio administration and implementation
- Coordinate client onboarding with internal service teams and check that application documents, identification, cost-basis information and trust paperwork are complete and compliant.
- Liaise with investment platforms, custodians and external service providers, understanding their operational requirements.
- Prepare portfolio rebalancing instructions and carry out post-trade checks.
- Prepare foreign-exchange instructions and coordinate spot FX transactions where appropriately licensed.
- Maintain accurate client records and support cash-balance monitoring, investigation of performance anomalies and oversight of investment-guideline exceptions.
- Assist with diary management, client meeting arrangements and other client-service activities.
Compliance, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Operate in accordance with applicable FCA/FINRA requirements, the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and internal policies on financial crime, anti-money laundering, vulnerable clients and treating customers fairly.
- Maintain complete, accurate client documentation and keep technical knowledge and continuing professional development up to date.
- Build strong relationships with clients, colleagues and external partners.
- Support the training and mentoring of junior colleagues and contribute to departmental projects and process improvements.
Skills and experience required:
- At least five years’ experience in a wealth management or financial planning support position.
- Chartered Financial Planner status preferred; CISI or IAD Level 4 qualifications and relevant FCA certification advantageous.
- Practical experience of cashflow modelling, client reporting, portfolio administration and working with multiple currencies.
- Strong numeracy, analytical ability, research skills and attention to detail.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and client relationship management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical matters clearly.
- Organised, discreet and proactive, with sound prioritisation skills and a commitment to excellent client service.
