Function

Working alongside an experienced tax recruitment specialist, you will be responsible for building and maintaining a deep understanding of the UK tax market across professional practice and industry.
Rather than focusing solely on live vacancies, you will proactively map the market, identify emerging talent and build relationships with tax professionals across a range of specialist disciplines. Your work will directly influence search strategy, candidate generation and business development activity.

This is an ideal role for someone with previous recruitment experience who enjoys research, candidate engagement and market intelligence, and wants to develop expertise in a highly specialized market.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain market maps across key tax disciplines including Corporate Tax, Real Estate Tax, Transfer Pricing, VAT, Deals Tax, International Tax and Private Client Tax.
• Develop a detailed understanding of hiring activity across the Big Four, Top 20 firms, boutiques and in-house tax teams.
• Track team movements, promotions and organisational changes to ensure market intelligence remains current.
• Identify high-potential tax professionals and maintain regular contact with them regarding their careers and market opportunities.
• Use LinkedIn Recruiter and other research tools to identify and engage relevant talent.
• Generate introductions and schedule meetings between prospective candidates and senior consultants.
• Build talent pipelines aligned to anticipated hiring demand rather than waiting for specific vacancies.
• Develop expertise in individual tax specialisms and build networks within those communities.
• Monitor market trends, growth areas and competitor hiring activity.
• Support the implementation of AI and technology tools to enhance research, talent mapping and candidate engagement.

Success in the Role

• Success will not be measured solely by placements or activity metrics, but by the quality of market intelligence and candidate networks developed.
• You will become the team's expert on:
• Who the strongest talent is within each tax discipline.
• Which firms are actively hiring and where skills shortages exist.
• Who has recently been promoted and may be approaching their next career move.
• Which candidates are likely to be interested in future opportunities.
• Where competitors are expanding or investing in specific tax service lines.

Ideal Background

• Previous experience in recruitment, recruitment research, talent acquisition or executive search.
• Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
• Curious and commercially minded.
• Comfortable engaging with professionals over the phone and LinkedIn.
• Interested in becoming a genuine market expert within a specialist professional services sector.
