French-speaking Financial Accountant
My client, one of the most recognisable media brands in the country, are looking to hire a French-speaking Financial Accountant/Manager to join their stunning offices in Manchester.
This role offers the unique opportunity to work closely with diverse teams and stakeholders, looking after the French-speaking entity based in Monaco, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with IFRS standards.
You will play a pivotal part in managing ERP systems, driving process improvements, and delivering technically sound outputs within a strong control framework.
This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your French language skills with a truly exciting finance role, in a globally renowned media business in the heart of Manchester.
What you'll do:
- Own the day-to-day operational accounting for the Monaco entity remotely, including journal entries, general ledger activity, month-end close tasks, and ensuring timely delivery of accurate financial outputs.
- Manage financial accounting within the local Monaco ERP system as well as uploading results into the Global ERP, supporting wider uploads, mapping exercises, and ongoing finance systems consolidation activities.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for multiple entities, resolve reconciling items efficiently, and ensure strict compliance with internal controls, policies, procedures, and IFRS reporting requirements.
- Deliver weekly trading data to shareholders while collaborating closely with teams in Monaco, Group Finance, Commercial Finance, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and improve reporting processes.
- Support both internal and external audits by monitoring accounting and regulatory changes relevant to international operations; contribute actively to ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as required.
- Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders in the finance team by developing a detailed understanding of business intricacies and challenges across different countries.
- Identify changes, improvements, and better ways of working within financial processes; develop actionable plans to implement these enhancements effectively.
- Embrace organisational values & behaviours by demonstrating passion for the business through your daily interactions with colleagues from various departments.
- Develop a deep understanding of balance sheet reconciliation processes including current gaps; proactively suggest improvement areas based on your analysis.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of assigned tasks during each month-end close cycle by maintaining high standards of accuracy throughout all financial activities.
What you bring:
- Qualified accountant status (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent) is essential.
- Fluency in French (written and spoken) is mandatory due to the focus on supporting Monaco operations; additional language skills are highly valued.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles combined with advanced financial analysis techniques enables you to interpret complex data accurately.
- Proficiency in financial software applications such as Workday alongside advanced Microsoft Excel skills ensures efficient management of large datasets.
- Excellent analytical abilities paired with problem-solving skills allow you to provide meaningful insights to stakeholders based on thorough interpretation of financial information.
- Outstanding communication skills coupled with inter-personal abilities empower you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while translating financial concepts for non-financial colleagues.
- Detail-oriented approach demonstrates your commitment to accuracy; you are capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously whilst meeting tight deadlines in a busy environment.
- Experience working within international finance environments gives you an understanding of cross-border complexities related to compliance and reporting standards.
- Ability to adapt quickly when monitoring accounting or regulatory changes ensures continued compliance across all entities supported by your role.
- A proactive attitude towards identifying process improvements reflects your willingness to develop innovative solutions that benefit both local teams and wider group operations.
