As a Cash and Banking Manager based in Manchester’s thriving finance hub, you will play a central role in shaping how the Cashiering team operates within a busy shared services environment. Your focus will be on creating an atmosphere where people feel supported yet accountable for their work. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of cashiering operations—from transaction processing to banking reconciliations—ensuring everything runs smoothly and meets stringent compliance standards.
Key duties include:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to the Cashiering team, ensuring all members are supported, workloads are balanced, and priorities are clearly communicated.
- Act as the first point of escalation for complex queries within the team, delivering coaching, conducting performance reviews, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
- Oversee core cashiering operations by managing the accurate processing of client and office transactions in line with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
- Maintain oversight of banking activities including reconciliations and cashflow management to ensure financial integrity across all operations.
- Collaborate closely with Finance and wider business teams to contribute to audits and support both month-end and year-end financial processes.
- Identify opportunities to enhance systems, controls, and efficiency within cashiering operations by recommending process improvements or supporting system upgrades.
To excel as a Cash and Banking Manager, you will bring significant experience from either legal cashiering or broader banking environments where precision is critical. Your background should include hands-on application of SRA Accounts Rules alongside practical exposure to managing teams—whether through direct supervision or informal mentoring roles. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to build trust-based relationships with colleagues at all levels while communicating complex information clearly. A keen eye for detail combined with strong organisational abilities will allow you to oversee multiple priorities without compromising quality.
You will have experience in the following areas:
- Demonstrable experience working within a legal cashiering or banking environment where accuracy and attention to detail are paramount.
- Comprehensive understanding of SRA Accounts Rules with proven ability to apply them in daily operations.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring a team in a finance or shared services setting, showing empathy and commitment to staff development.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate clearly across different levels of the organisation.
- Strong knowledge of financial systems including Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with shared services environments is advantageous.
- Experience supporting process improvements or transformations that have delivered measurable benefits for operational efficiency.
