Are you an experienced ACA/CA-qualified finance professional with a passion for sport? A dynamic and fast-growing sports organisation is seeking a Financial Controller to lead their finance function during an exciting period of growth. With multiple revenue streams across ticketing, sponsorship, and commercial activity, this is your chance to bring clarity and control to their financial operations while working closely with senior leadership.

About the Organisation

This sports organisation is experiencing rapid growth and operates in a fast-paced environment with diverse revenue streams. They are looking for a proactive finance leader who can strengthen their financial foundations, improve processes, and act as a true business partner to leadership.

What You’ll Do:

🔹 Deliver accurate and timely management accounts with actionable insights.
🔹 Strengthen financial controls, governance, and reconciliation processes.
🔹 Partner with commercial teams to ensure revenue streams are accurately reported.
🔹 Improve cashflow visibility, forecasting processes, and reporting accuracy.
🔹 Lead and develop a small finance team while driving systems and process improvements.

What We’re Looking For:

✔ ACA/CA qualified with 4-5 years post-qualification experience (industry or Senior Manager level in practice).
✔ Proven track record of improving finance functions and delivering high-quality reporting.
✔ Hands-on approach with the ability to dive into detail when needed.
✔ Strong stakeholder management skills, able to build trust quickly in founder-led environments.
✔ Experience managing external accountants/advisors and overseeing statutory accounts, VAT filings, payroll operations, etc.
✔ Experience and/or love for the sports industry

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Familiarity with modern accounting systems or automation tools to streamline workflows.
  • Experience supporting board reporting, investor materials, or fundraising processes.
  • Exposure to both services-based and technology-enabled revenue models.

Mindset & Approach:

  • Views finance as a proactive partner to the business rather than just a reporting function.
  • Thrives in fast-moving environments and enjoys genuine ownership of their work.
  • Is comfortable operating in ambiguity while building scalable processes over time.
