Save job

A leading organisation in South East London is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their dedicated finance team. This role offers a competitive salary of £30,000-£35,000 and provides the opportunity to work within a supportive environment where your attention to detail and organisational skills will be highly valued. You will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate invoicing and effective credit control, contributing directly to the company’s cash flow and financial health. The position promises flexibility, ongoing training opportunities, and the chance to collaborate with knowledgeable colleagues who are committed to sharing expertise and supporting your professional growth. If you are looking for a role that values teamwork, inclusivity, and personal development, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Responsibilities:

* Monitor contractual changes to ensure accurate invoicing for customers and update financial systems accordingly, maintaining precise records at all times.

* Handle new customer requests by opening accounts on relevant platforms such as SAGE, ensuring all details are correctly entered for seamless processing.

* Maintain up-to-date records on internal systems for invoicing details, guaranteeing data integrity across all transactions.

* Run and format reports required for invoicing using advanced Excel skills, providing critical information for mid-month, end-of-month, and ad hoc billing cycles.

* Raise invoices according to schedule while liaising with clients and operational team members to obtain essential purchase order numbers for each transaction.

* Follow up with clients and operational teams to resolve queries that may prevent payment or delay invoicing, demonstrating excellent interpersonal communication.

* Provide cover for credit control functions by assisting with debt collection activities, including direct client contact when necessary.

* Update chase lists for credit control actions to be reported to directors, ensuring transparency and accountability in all credit management processes.

* Report aged debt for review as required, supporting the finance team in managing outstanding balances efficiently.

* Process daily bank transactions within the cashbook function, maintain remittance sheets, and resolve payment queries promptly.

The Ideal Candidate:

* Demonstrate at least three years of recent experience working within a sales ledger or credit control environment, showcasing your dependability in finance roles.

* Hold professional qualifications such as AAT or AICM (preferable), reflecting your commitment to ongoing learning within the accounting sector.

* Show proficiency in cashbook processing alongside a solid understanding of Sage software; experience with Sage is considered advantageous but not mandatory.

* Exhibit intermediate or advanced skills in Microsoft Excel as well as familiarity with financial reporting packages essential for managing complex data sets.

* Display exceptional attention to detail which is critical for success in this role given the volume of transactional data handled daily.

* Possess strong organisational skills enabling you to prioritise workload effectively while meeting time-critical deadlines without compromising accuracy.

* Communicate confidently with customers over the phone while maintaining thorough records for follow-up actions; excellent interpersonal abilities are key.

* Work collaboratively as a dependable team player who supports colleagues during periods of leave or increased workload.

* Be self-motivated with a willingness to learn how different systems operate within finance functions; adaptability is highly valued.

* Understand overall accounting principles sufficiently to resolve queries accurately and ensure timely invoicing.
