* Check invoices for accuracy before despatch, collaborating with sales, warehouse, or customer teams to resolve any discrepancies quickly so clients receive flawless documentation.

* Support the transition towards automation by partnering with IT and other departments to facilitate EDI implementation, helping streamline processes for greater efficiency.

* Maintain precise sales ledger records by correctly coding and allocating all transactions, guaranteeing data integrity across the board.

* Proactively manage a portfolio of customer accounts by chasing outstanding debt via phone, email, and customer portals within agreed credit terms to keep cash flow strong.

* Produce regular aged debt reports on a weekly or monthly basis, identifying overdue balances early and escalating risk accounts as needed to protect financial stability.

* Build effective working relationships with customer accounts payable teams to resolve payment delays and queries promptly, fostering trust and collaboration.

* Monitor customer credit limits closely, flagging accounts approaching or exceeding thresholds while working with management on credit risk decisions for optimal outcomes.

* Allocate incoming customer remittances against invoices accurately and promptly to support timely cash collection and seamless reconciliation.

* Prepare debtor reporting and commentary for the Finance Manager, highlighting trends, risks, and cash collection forecasts that inform strategic decision-making.

Experience Needed:

* Proven experience in a sales ledger, credit control, or accounts receivable role within a B2B/wholesale or manufacturing environment

* Experience dealing with large retail customers - including familiarity with portals, EDI systems, and retailer-specific documentation

* Working knowledge of credit control best practices as well as aged debt management techniques is essential for delivering results in this role.

* Confident use of accounting or ERP systems combined with proficiency in Excel (including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP functions and pivot tables)

* Strong numerical accuracy paired with exceptional attention to detail empowers you to maintain precise records even under pressure.

* Professional communication skills allow you to chase payments diplomatically while resolving queries collaboratively with customers

* Excellent organisational abilities equip you to manage high volumes of transactions
